Airport information Macau (MFM)

Airport infoMacau International Airport information

The fairly new airport in Macau was opened in 1995. Before that Macau only had an airport which could handle small airplanes. Macau International Airport has become a popular destination for low-cost airlines because of the low landing fees. This, combined with Macau’s unique cultural heritage, the gambling industry and close proximity to Hong Kong have seen an enormous rise in passenger numbers. The airport is located on the Taipa Island with the runway constructed in the sea on reclaimed land. Be aware that Macau is a Special Administrative Region (SAR) of China having it own immigration policies and a Macau visa does not allow you to enter China or Hong Kong. Macau allows a 30 to 90 day visa-free entry for most passport holders.
